Over 250 years of responding

As part of Respond! we invited the RSA Archive Team to put together a display of archive material that will be on show throughout the RSA House in June.   However, there was so much material that we don’t have enough space to show it all at the RSA! So, to accompany the physical display we have put together a digital feature where we can showcase more of the projects, initiatives and awards that demonstrate the RSA’s commitment from a historical perspective. It will also give you a taste of what will be on show in June and not least how engaged we are as an organisation and how fantastic our archives are. Take a look at the feature here

  • About Respond 09

Respond! takes place in June 2009 to highlight and celebrate a month of nationwide events, exhibitions, talks and projects that demonstrate the arts’ engagement with environmental issues.

On the main Respond! website you can find information about what's happening across the UK alongside features, blogs and much more.

There are already an incredible amount of projects, organisations and initiatives in the arts that have responded to the ever-increasing threats to the environment and continue to organise vital and stimulating discourse around the subject. The RSA Arts & Ecology website is committed to drawing attention to this work and extending the debate further among an active and engaged audience.

In June this year we want to take a snapshot of the activity that is taking place in the UK to build on the agenda of World Environment Day which takes place on 5 June.

The project is being delivered in association with Bash Creations - an events production company whose aim is to reduce the ecological footprint of the British entertainment industry by introducing innovative and creative ways to implement sustainable practice.
